Reuse a message template inside an existing campaign

Pull a saved message template into a campaign you are already building, or copy content from one of its other languages, without starting a new campaign.

A saved template does not only have to be the starting point for a brand new campaign. You can pull one into a campaign you are already working on, and you can copy content between the languages of a campaign you have already written.

Both live in the same place.

Import a saved template

  1. Open the campaign and go to the 2. Content step.

    Click on 2. Content

  2. In the left panel, expand the channel and click the language you want to fill.

    Click on English (Default)…

  3. Open the three-dot menu on that language and choose Import from Message Templates

  4. Pick the template

    Click on Select

  5. Confirm the Import of the template

    Click on Confirm

The import goes into the language you opened the menu on, not into the campaign as a whole. Content is stored per channel and per language, so importing while you have German selected fills the German slot and leaves English untouched. If you want the template in both, import it twice, once per language.

This is worth checking before you import, because selecting the wrong language and importing over content can happen easily.

Copy content from another language in the same campaign

The same menu has Copy template from this campaign. It takes content you have already written in one language or channel of this campaign and copies it into the one you are working on.

The natural use is translation. Write and lay out the message properly once, in whichever language you are most comfortable with, then copy it across and translate the words in place. You keep the layout, the images and the buttons, and only the text changes.

Which one to reach for

  • Import from Message Templates when the content lives outside this campaign, in your saved templates.

  • Copy template from this campaign when the content already exists in this campaign, in another language or on another channel.

After importing

Check the language really has content before you publish. A channel and language combination with nothing in it does not quietly fall back. A guest who resolves to it fails with Campaign template not found on the Schedules tab of the campaign report, and the Review & Publish step flags an empty template before you get that far.

Getting help

Open Talk to Us in the left menu of the platform, or email [email protected]. Tell us the campaign name and which language you were importing into.
