You do not have to rebuild a layout you have already designed. The email editor can hand you the current design as text, and take that text back in on another campaign. It is the fastest way to reuse a design that is more than a single row, and it also gives you a backup you can keep outside Bookboost.
For reusing one row rather than a whole email, use Blocks instead. See Reuse your designs with Blocks.
Copying the design out
Open the campaign that has the design you want, go to 2. Content, pick the email channel and language, and select the Editor mode.
Click Export Design at the bottom right.
Stay on the Design (JSON) tab. This is the design itself, in the form the editor can read back.
Click Copy to put it on your clipboard, or Download to save it as a file.
Click Close.
The HTML tab next to it is a different thing. It gives you the finished email as HTML, which is what you want if you are sending the design to a developer or keeping a rendered copy. It cannot be imported back into the drag-and-drop editor, because by then it is a rendered email rather than a design.
Copying it into another campaign
Open the campaign you want the design in, go to 2. Content, pick the email channel and language, and select Editor.
Click Import Design.
Paste the JSON into the box.
Click Import.
Importing replaces the design that is open, and it cannot be undone. The dialog says so, and that is what it means. If the campaign you are importing into, already has a design worth keeping, export that one first.
One thing that can save you: if you have not saved since you opened the editor, Revert takes the template back to how it was when you started editing, which includes undoing an import. That is a narrow escape route rather than a safety net, because it goes as soon as you save. Export first.
If you downloaded the JSON as a file rather than copying it, open the file in any text editor, select all of it, and paste that. Import Design takes pasted text, not an uploaded file.
Where the design is stored
A design belongs to one channel and one language on one campaign. Exporting and importing is per language too, so a campaign in German and English needs the import doing twice, once for each.
Auto Save
Auto Save sits in the same row of controls, and it is a switch that is off until you yourself turn it on.
Off. Nothing is stored until you press Save. If you leave the content step without saving, the work is gone.
On. The editor saves as you go, so you do not have to remember.
Auto Save and Revert pull in opposite directions, which is worth knowing before you rely on either. Revert returns the template to how it was when you opened it, so with Auto Save on it has less and less to give you back as the session goes on.

Getting help
Open Talk to Us in the left menu of the platform, or email [email protected]. Tell us both campaign names and which language you were importing into.
