A campaign can be gated on consent, so it only reaches guests who have agreed to hear from you. The setting lives on the campaign itself, on the 4. Review & Publish step, in a section headed Consent Required.
This article covers the campaign side only. For what a consent is, how guests give it, and what each status means, start with Consent management essentials.
Setting it up
Open the campaign and go to 4. Review & Publish.
Find Consent Required.
In the Consent field, select the consents that should let a guest through.
The section works the same way on a Journey and on a Broadcast.
Leaving it empty
An empty Consent field means the campaign has no consent requirement of its own, and consent will not stop it sending. That is the right setting for operational messages such as a booking confirmation or check-out instructions, which a guest needs whether or not they have opted into marketing.
Do not execute a campaign like this for anything promotional. A newsletter or an offer should always name the consent it depends on.
Selecting more than one
If you select several consents, a guest needs any one of them, not all of them. The on-screen note says as much:
"If there are multiple consents selected, then it will be required to only have one of them."
That makes a list of consents a way of widening who qualifies, not narrowing it. Selecting both a marketing consent and a newsletter consent means guests holding either one will receive the campaign.
What happens to a guest without consent
They are skipped. The campaign does not send to them, and nothing is charged.
You can confirm it for a specific guest on the Schedules tab of the campaign report. A guest who was skipped for consent has no row for that campaign at all, because Bookboost never attempted a send. That is different from a guest Bookboost tried and failed to reach, who does get a row, marked Failed.
Consent gates the campaign, it does not collect it
Selecting a consent here checks what the guest has already agreed to. It does not ask them. Consent has to arrive some other way first, whether through a form, your PMS, the API, or an import. See Collecting marketing consent.
If a consent is set to require confirmation, a guest sitting at pending has not granted it yet and will not pass the gate. See Consent configurations for how the two toggles on a consent decide which status a guest lands in, and Guest consent statuses for what each status lets through.
Getting help
Open Talk to Us in the left menu of the platform, or email [email protected]. Tell us the campaign name and which consent you expected to let the guest through.
